Reels are short videos, currently limited to 90 seconds mixed with music, audio, AR effects, and other options such as text display, etc. Facebook reels can be viewed by people using Facebook, and Instagram reels are also integrated into Facebook.
However, Instagram reels that appear on Facebook, are shown only if the creator chooses them to be recommended, which in many cases they do for exposure.
Reels recommendations are based on what may be relevant to you, these reels will normally appear on your Facebook feed as well as the video tap/reels tap. When you view a reel that's been recommended from Instagram, you will usually see the creator's Instagram username rather than their Facebook name. Options will also include viewing the video on Instagram or connecting your Instagram to Facebook to be able to comment on the video - this option requires one to add their Instagram account to the accounts center, in that way, your comment will be posted with your Instagram profile.
When you have posted your reel on Facebook, you will be able to see people who have liked, played, initially played, replayed, and creator page in numbers of your reel insights.
Understand how Reels Insight works
- Likes
This insight allows you to see a number of people who have liked your reel, not only in numbers, you can also see who liked your reel, allowing you to also view their profile. However, when the reel was recommended on Instagram with Instagram views, you will not be able to view who liked it.
However, you will be able to see Instagram users who liked your reels as soon as you log to your Instagram account,
- Plays
According to Meta, "The number of times your reel starts to play or replay after an impression is already counted. This is defined as plays of 1ms or more. Replays are counted after the initial play in the same reel session.
To see the number of plays, in the bottom right corner, tap the number under the like button
This happens when the video starts to play for the first time in a reel session.
"This is defined as plays of 1ms or more and excludes replays." - Meta
"The number of times your reel starts to play again after an initial play of your reel. This is defined as replays of 1ms or more in the same reel session."
"When you’re watching a reel created on Facebook, you can see other reels they’ve created by tapping on their name. If you’re watching a reel created on Instagram, you’ll be directed to their profile on Instagram instead."
